Cabaret like you have never seen it! Leave your judgement at the door and get ready to shimmy as Steven Oliver takes you on a hilarious ride.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
You know Steven Oliver from ABC’s hit show, Black Comedy? Well this is his life in cabaret, conceived by, written, and starring Oliver himself. Oliver describes it as “the most entertaining, fabulous and relatively cheap cultural awareness training”, so naturally we’re hooked.
With Helpmann Award-winner Michael Griffiths on piano, it’s guaranteed to get you laughing, thinking and shimmying in your seats.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Steven Oliver is an accomplished playwright and entertainer and one of Australia’s most compelling storytellers. He’s also got that rare ability to have you snort-laughing one minute and sitting sucker-punched the next. Expect candid stories of self-discovery, love and loss, and the downside of fame, with cheeky gossip and behind-the-scenes revelations sprinkled throughout.
WHAT’S MICHAEL’S BACKGROUND
Michael Griffiths is undoubtedly Australia’s leading man of cabaret with a string of hit shows including Cole (for which he won the coveted Helpmann Award for Best Cabaret Performer), In Vogue, Songs by Kylie and Livvy & Pete. He’s also an accomplished musical theatre performer and featured in the original Australian cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, We Will Rock You and Shout! He’s a southerner so it’s a rare treat to see him live on stage in Queensland.
Bigger & Blacker plays at La Boite’s Roundhouse Theatre from 08 – 27 March 2021.
