This weekend saw Brisbane’s Bombshell Burlesque Academy taking over the Powerhouse’s main theatre, for a series of hour-long spectaculars, showcasing some of Queensland’s finest showgirls.
The show, dubbed ‘Sweet Dreams’, featured performances from academy director Lila Luxx, Cello Bordello, Lucy Luxe, Martini McFly, Evie Libertine, and The Bombshells troupe.
Set to a sterling soundtrack that featured the likes of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Metallica (because why not?), ‘Sweet Dreams’ led the audience into a dreamland, filled with magical, sultry performances, all under the watchful eye of showgirl extraordinaire Jacqueline Furey.
Standouts included Cello Bordello taking to the skies, in an aerial striptease that was as beautiful in the shadows as it was on stage, and MC Jacqueline Furey quite literally lighting up the stage with a fiery take on burlesque.
Expertly choreographed, featuring an array of stunning costumes, this is Brisbane burlesque at its most polished.
