Pictures: Songs From Movie Musicals was presented by producer Alexander Butt at the Sunnybank Performing Arts and Cultural Centre (SunPAC) for an exclusive Queensland performance.
The cabaret is based on Kerrie Anne Greenland’s debut album of the same name, Pictures, which is dedicated to her family and friends who appear in photos on the stage.
Kerrie Anne was accompanied by musical director Rainer Pollard on the piano and Conrad Hamill on the cello.
Kerrie Anne’s powerful voice is the perfect foil for a wonderful collection of songs from a broad range of silver screen hits including iconic and classic films such as The Wizard of Oz, The Jazz Singer, The Sound of Music and Cabaret to more contemporary motion pictures such as The Muppets and Mamamia.
From start to finish audiences, were spellbound by songs from Somewhere Over the Rainbow and the beloved hit On My Own from Les Miserables, not to forget Kermit’s favourite, It’s Hard Being Green, and a striking Judy Garland impersonation.
Kerrie Anne delighted audience members with tales of growing up in Adelaide with her parents who owned a cinema and how she grew to love Disney films.
In particular, she adored watching Sleeping Beauty on VHS which she viewed repeatedly – so many times that the tape wore out. She also confessed to a fondness for popcorn and choc top ice creams.
Kerrie Anne is an award-winning Australian theatre performer and accomplished singer who completed studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
She started her career in music theatre in 2014, bringing to life the character of Eponine in Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Miserables Australia.
Kerrie Anne was awarded the coveted Helpmann Award for her portrayal of this much-loved character.
