Where do you start when you are creating a set list of favourite songs from movie musicals?

If you’re Kerrie-Anne Greenland and you grew up in the ’90s, you choose a song from a Disney Princess.

As the show unveils, it comes as no surprise that Greenland won a prestigious Helpmann Award for her role as Eponine in Les Miserables.

Her powerful voice and stagecraft are evident as she works her way through a plethora of songs, eras and styles.

Surrounded on stage by photos of family and friends and supported with piano and cello, Greenland weaves her own brand of movie magic.

Her chosen repertoire allows her to fully demonstrate her ability to interpret the songs and bring them to life.

Standards include numbers from movies such as Carousel, The King and I, even The Jazz Singer.

More modern selections come from Frozen and The Greatest Showman.

Forgotten gems are Somewhere That’s Green from Little Shop of Horrors and Kermit the Frog’s unforgettable and poignant, It’s Not Easy Being Green.

Greenland’s engaging banter with her musicians and the audience link the different songs.

The real strength of Greenland’s performance is, of course, her voice.

It soars and dives through On My Own from Les Mis and Climb Every Mountain from The Sound of Music which also demonstrates her operatic training.

She does a credible Judy Garland complete with patter as well as singing in her inimitable style.

This is followed by Liza Minnelli and Maybe This Time from Cabaret.

Her voice soars and thrills but also sensitively interprets each song.

There are so many songs in this delightful and polished performance. Kerrie-Anne Greenland is a musical talent worth following.
