THE CALL & THE HUMAN VOICE

20-24 Sep 2022

Concert Hall QPAC

Opera Queensland and Brisbane Festival

Two women, two moments, two lives changed forever.

The Call

A new Australian work, inspired by a remarkable true story about a woman left with nothing but a phone number. She dials, someone answers and so begins a conversation that changes everything.

Starring Ali McGregor (Lorelei) this astonishing new opera shows how a single act of kindness can transform an entire life.

The Human Voice

Elle, played by Alexandra Flood, is alone and motionless in a room; she goes to leave but is stopped by the phone ringing. It is the love of her life. Rather than compassion, she is confronted with a truth she finds impossible to accept.

Based on an original story told by Auburn Sheaffer, this powerful double-bill is brought to life by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Zoe Zeniodi, and the creative team behind The Marriage of Figaro.
