DIVA shines bright in a performance that mixes opera, contemporary music and comedy

The Powerhouse is such an easy venue to get to using the CityCat and the Visy Theatre was an excellent choice as it created an intimate setting for the evening.

You could see that Emily has a special place for the Brisbane audience and her amazing voice and endearing personality made for a wonderful night of entertainment.

I was worried that it was going to be heavy going as I’m not such a fan of opera, but I was totally converted and blown away by Emily’s powerful voice and amazing vocals.

I particularly enjoyed the performance from Madame Butterfly and also more modern songs from various artists (including Adele, and Dolly Parton.)

The humour was infectious and my husband, in particular, laughed the whole night through.

There were lots of clever lyrics and the audience was encouraged to sing along.

We learnt about ‘Sir Titles’, ‘Quick Change Wardrobes’ and enjoyed some beautiful ballads that she sung with her brother Pat on his guitar.

The other musicians (piano and cello) were also incredibly talented.

Emily had such a good rapport with the audience and certainly deserved the standing ovation at the end of the performance.

Her voracious personality shone through and matches her powerful vocals and glitzy costumes.

I came away inspired, wishing I had a friend like her!
