Baroque Labyrinth sees the long-awaited return of one of Camerata’s favourite collaborators, the Italian Baroque violinist, Davide Monti.
A much sought-after director, soloist and chamber musician, Davide’s playing possesses incredible freshness, where “all appears extraordinarily spontaneous and organic”. His prize-winning recordings include his Vivaldi’s Four Seasons which has been reviewed as “definitely one of the best versions of the decade”.
Davide has tailor-made a beautiful and interesting program that delves into the historical fascination the world has had with labyrinths, which reaches back to Greek mythology and is especially vivid in the music about Ariadne in the Baroque times.
Be prepared for a beautiful, theatrical performance with music from some of the greats like Handel and Bach, and featuring Locatelli’s fiendish and challenging concerto, Harmonic Labyrinth which carries the tantalising subtitle: Easy to Enter; Difficult to Get Out Of.
